The flow of the torrent of the Diosaz is mainly related to the presence of EDF dam upstream of the walk. Therefore the weather conditions influence the flow of the torrent only during heavy rain and dry period.
A contract between EDF and society Gorges Diosaz allows a natural flow into the grooves only in July / August and a few hours in June and September (see dates below)
In June and September : low flow. A quiet atmosphere conducive to contemplation. This is the ideal time to admire the erosion, the water clarity and its emerald colour so typical to the Diosaz.
(In June and September, there is still an opportunity to visit the site with a higher flow : every Saturday and Sunday between 2pm and 3.30pm and every Wednesday between 2pm and 3 pm.)
In July and August : natural flow (more important). Rain and high temperatures (mostly at the beginning of summer) increase the volume of the torrent. After a storm, the flow can be very impressive. This is the time of wild gorges, the best time to measure the force of the waterfalls.
A gift shop : with many items of Diosaz souvenir and beautiful old black and white postcards.
The waterfall’s snackbar : provide refreshments, paninis and ice creams on a quiet sunny terrace. If you wish, by taking a consumer, you can alos sit there and enjoy your own picnic.
This canyon is accessible only thanks to a footpath made up of many gateways and bridges. The original philosophy of Achilles Cazin (founder of the gorges) was: «to allow everyone to access the heart of the gorge to the most modest price possible»
Since 1875 the small company Gorges Diosaz strives for the best this profession of faith while improving the sustainability and security of the site. Each year, 3 months of maintenance work are required to check or redo the path destroyed by the elements, secure the cliffs and finally keep this route open.
Approximately 300m away you’ll find:
The Maison de l’alpage (Servoz Tourist Office) proposes some beautiful walks in the vicinity (such as the tour St Michel) as well as different exhibitions each year, in collaboration with the association “Servoz Histoire et Traditions”.
There is also: the baroque style church of St Loup dating back to 1537; the church tower from 1746 with the portal representing St Loup fighting a dragon; 14 oratories and the oval stained glass window with its four evangelists.
In the neighbourhood:
The snack bar of the "Les Bossons glacier"
The Lac Vert (green lake)
The St Bernard breeding kennels
The Merlet animal park
Buvette de la tête de la Fontaine
